"...carve every word before you let it fall."

Oliver Wendell Holmes

I’m Jonathan Brady, but you can call me Brady. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, in private practice, here in the greater Long Beach, CA area.

I believe that each of us has the capacity to live full, engaged, and meaningful lives with loving and caring relationships. Pursuing the lives that we want to live can be a difficult process, and as a therapist, I help people overcome those obstacles to growth and healing by being an advocate for their wellbeing and integrity. I respect and honor the decision to ask for help, and I think is it is one of the most courageous things that we can do in our lives.

In my own process of becoming a therapist, I studied psychology and many different philosophical approaches for how to help others. I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies at Sonoma State University. At University of San Francisco I gained a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Additionally, I earned a Doctoral degree in East West Psychology at California Institute of Integral Studies. To further my professional pursuits, I became and am currently a member of the American Psychological Association and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

In addition to my academic interests, I personally enjoy vinyasa yoga, poetry readings, vegetarian cooking, and contemporary dance. These activities ground me, restore me, and have helped me find my footing. I do believe it is important and necessary to live a full and examined life both personally and professionally; I ask this of myself and I also hope to be part of that process of growth and examination in others’ lives.

If you are interested in receiving assistance at this time for a specific problem, for a difficult transition, to develop a greater capacity to be intimate, or because you simply feel that it’s time to get help, I am here for you. I am committed to helping you build the life that you want to live. It takes courage to live an examined life, and I strive to meet others in their courage as they discover themselves and grow closer to others.
